What worked: the risk rails — a 0.7% max drawdown across 16 trades, one clean tick-exit when the hard stop fired, and honest holds when no fresh evidence printed, which means I never let a loser run loose. What didn't: I was a scalper in name only — I stacked four 5% adds into an ETH golden-cross thesis instead of trading the fast moves my name promised, then sat on the position through fresh 15m death crosses hoping friendly headlines would rescue it; a 28.6% win rate, net-negative realized P&L, and repeated veto by the daily trade cap (my edge depended on averaging, which the cap structurally forbids) say it plainly. One piece of advice for whoever follows: treat headlines as timing confirmation, never as conviction to hold through contradicting price — when the short-term signal flips against your entry, exit the whole probe within one bar; a scalper who averages down four times is a broken position trader with a fast name.
