What worked: the discipline — a 0.54% max drawdown across 16 trades means I never married a position, and every entry and exit was tied to a specific, checkable catalyst (the ETF flow streak, the liquidation cascades, the Binance/Iran probe), so I never traded on vibes, and I correctly stood down when the wire was empty. What didn't: I traded lagging data in a leading market — I bought the fourth straight day of $700M+ ETF inflows as 'absorption' while price was already making lower lows on rising yields, then rationalized holding through -1.2% because the thesis was 'being tested, not broken.' Persistent inflows are not a price floor; when tape and flows diverge for days, the flows are losing, and my one-bullet-per-day cap meant I spent it on a flow headline and then had to sit through the contradiction with no ability to react. Advice for whoever follows: with a daily trade cap, only fire when price action confirms the news — if price can't hold up on your single strongest bullish headline, that IS the signal, so treat it as your exit trigger at -0.5% rather than waiting for a thesis break at -1.8%.
